  • I'm totally loving my new Dr. Horrible T-Shirt which I got for my birthday. It's actually a slightly different colour than I though it'd be. From the pics it looks a lot greyer but IRL there's a bit of a Camo Green shade.
  • Upon discovering the zoom feature on my new spare Mac I opened MS Word, changed the page background to black and the text to white and typed in 'Where am I?'. Buffy fans should figure this one out.
Okay there were only two... but I think the last one brings up my geek quotient a hell of a lot. I haven't posted here for ages mainly due to my debilitating laziness and occasionally for actual reasons! 30 Rock/Tina Fey fans might wanna check out this collection of Liz Lemon's funniest moments . It's pretty goddamn hilarious and makes me crave even more 30 Rock. I really should get round to updating Whispering Memories as well. I've got all this art just lying around waiting to be uploaded.

Three days away from the start of school and my half-yearly exams and what do I do? Work on a new layout for my oft-forgotten website. Feel free to quote Rupert Grint from Philosopher's Stone.

At the very least it's a cool layout: {PREVIEW}. Some feedback/comments would be nice ;).

Haven't had the time to post for ages. School and then general laziness got in the way.

My school holidays started this week! Which is fun cause it mainly involves me on the computer 24/7. It does however, mean I have to study because the brainiacs at my school decided my year's 'half-yearlies' should be on the first week of Term 2. What part of half-yearly do they not get?

On the TV front, I've hooked a friend onto One Tree Hill. She's watched 2 1/2 seasons in a week!. That's about 4 episodes a day! I've started watching Dark Angel, in exchange for my sister reading The Chosen even though she was supposed to read it in exchange for me watching OTH 4 years ago *eyeroll*. It's weird seeing Jessica Alba before she became a crap actress. I mean, have you seen Fantastic 4? The show's pretty good if a little dated. It's like a parade of people before they were famous (ie Michael Weatherly).

I haven't posted any thoughts on Torchwood but I loved the finale, despite Gray being the worst actor ever. I'm taking the whole 'Jack was buried underground for thousands of years and didn't go insane' thing in stride, I mean pick a fanwank and go with it. Tosh and Owen's deaths (which I was somewhat spoilt for) were sad, especially with all of the wasted potential in the characters. Rhys and Andy were a hoot and I loved how they've become a part of Gwen's Torchwood life. It's rather fortunate Gwen was late for work, otherwise the whole team would've been stuck under the blownup warehouse. Which begs the question; Why were there only four bombs when there are five Torch-ies? Seeing Cardiff in flames really made the finale epic and I love what Chris Chibnall has done with the whole series. He's improved on everything people hated about S1 and made the show watchable and enjoyable.

In movies, I've watched Rescue Dawn (heh, not Buffy-related), Horton Hears a Who and Empire Records. Liked all of them, especially Empire Records which is another one I've seen bits and pieces of before. Horton was a pleasant surprise. The whole thing was very funny and some of the surreal scenes (one word: anime) were hilarious. My sister posed an interesting question; why have the other (crap-tacular) Seuss adaptions (Cat in the Hat, The Grinch) been live-action? Wouldn't it be your instinct to go with animation? Some strange logic there...

I downloaded the new Death Cab single, 'I Will Possess You Heart', which grew on me. At first I wasn't too sure on the four minute intro, but I totally love the song now. The video clip is pretty cool but it must've been a bitch to jet the girl and film crew to all of those locations. The drumming with water flying everywhere was very pretty and all the freezer shots in general.

I've made some episode posters for 'The Chosen'. It's a Buffy Virtual Continuation that I've plugged here before in one of my Required Reading posts. They've let me challenge myself in terms of composition, image selection and concepts. <random> Aaaaand I'm listening to one of The Chosen commentaries, and it's hilarious. </random> Anyway, go read it, it's the best Buffy continuation I've ever read and you'll ever read.

I've made some pieces for BuffyForums challenges that I quite like: Across the Universe and Tragedy. I watched Across the Universe recently, and it's a freaking brilliant film that everyone must watch. The songs and design and acting are just superb. I tried to reflect the whole 60s feel of the movie in the wallpaper (which is in 1280x1024 cause I wanted to use it). Tragedy was my attempt at making a textless piece that communicates movement and emotion through the composition and images.

Pheeew. That was a LONG post.

Jesus Christ the weather is schizo. One moment I'm stewing in my own sweat, the next it's freaking Noah's Ark. And it kept up today, warm at day; storms at sunset. The thunder was pretty epic as well, my computer actually screwed up from a surge. Luckily there wasn't any permanent damage; I just had to reset it.

I just caught up on about 3 weeks worth of Torchwood... I'm really enjoying all of the episodes so far. The team has a much more 'team-y' dynamic and the characters are actually being given a lot more character. All of the plots are well handled and interesting. I haven't had any opportunity to talk about any of the episodes so far, so I think I'll do some review-ettes.

I watched High Fidelity a couple days ago and love it so much. I'd seen bits and pieces before but watching the whole movie was great. John Cusack was just awesome as Rob and I loved his character. I was completely surprised that Jack Black could actually sing! I'm adding Nick Hornby to my rather long list of books/authors to read (Jane Austen, Douglas Adams and The Lovely Bones).

I caught Juno two days ago and must say that it's freaking awesome. Ellen Page is perfect as Juno along with the rest of the excellent cast. Props to the casting supervisor for doing such a wonderful job. There are so many quotable lines that you'll find in other reviews that I won't show any here. Not only do the performances enhance the dialogue, but hearing them before seeing the movie spoils it. It's rather interesting that the writer was a former stripper, but from the sounds of the interview I read in Empire she's quite down to earth. The name Diablo Cody is kinda awesome isn't it?

The credit sequence was rather surprising and quite cool. My brother, being a film student, was commenting on how they used rotoscoping etc. Duh. The soundtrack's completely awesome and I'm hoping to snag Moldy Peaches into my iPod.

So... 2008. It's kinda funny how, for about 24 hours, there are hourly fireworks across the planet. The Sydneyian fireworks were pretty cool. The logo was nice but I wonder how many more good designs they can come up with...

Haven't made any resolutions... and it appears this weird pimple thing I had in my ear chose to pop now. Weird sense of timing. Anyway, I seem to have no goals for the year so far.... anything new? I should probably mention my Christmas haul now. I got:

*Doctor Who Series 1 & Harry Potter & the Order of the Phoenix from me sis. Already finished watching Series 1 cause I got those early!
*Doctor Who Series 3 from my brother (notice a theme?). Started watching it today after finishing the Series 1 commentaries. I quite like the Paradox Machine menus, although I wish the episode menus would move around a bit more.
*Money from my mum. How inventive! ;)
*A DVD recorder that's actually for my sis from my bro but I live in the same house so it's for me as well. Loving how simple and intuitive all of the menus and functions are.

Am I completely lame for playing this song now?
